How to Make $1,000/Month with Simple Video Edits

The 3 key strategies that helped me achieve this.

The answer is yes—but it’s not as simple as you think.

Listen, every beginner editor knows how to add cuts to a video, so it should mean they can make $1,000 just by cutting clips.

Yeah, but they lack one thing—opportunity.

They aren’t able to find the opportunities to make $1,000 a month just by cutting simple videos.

In the past, I’ve worked for people who needed simple edits like cuts and slapping on an intro template, and I made $1,000 a month doing this alone.

Who were those people?

People like:

  • Agency owners

  • Course creators

  • Marketing gurus

They just needed simple editing—no fancy stuff.

Now, the question that should be coming to your mind is, how did I find them?

The answer is straightforward—it’s the same way I find my other clients.

It’s my lovely personal brand on Twitter (X).

Here are 3 things I did that helped me land these types of opportunities:

1. Growing my personal brand

This is the best decision I ever made. Because of this, I never have to rely on strategies like cold emails and cold DMs.

As my personal brand grew, people started to discover me—one of them was a marketing guy.

He reached out to me for his basic editing needs. That’s how I got this opportunity in the first place.

I loved the work because it was easy and the payout was good—so I took the job.

But then I ran into another problem. He only had a limited amount of work for me, and I wanted to take more jobs like this.

So here’s what I did next:

2. Building my network

The client was happy with my work, so I started asking him for referrals.

He introduced me to one of his friends, who was an agency owner. He also needed the same type of editing.

Now I had two clients—my income doubled.

Most people would probably stop there and think that’s the most you can make from a client, but you’d be dead wrong.

The value a single client holds, if you have a good relationship with them, is incredible.

And this is what most people ignore:

3. Providing value

You don’t want to make money from a client just once. If you do this, you won’t grow—I promise you.

If you want to sustain yourself in freelancing (or any business), you have to increase the value of your clients.

You do this by building a good relationship with your clients.

I did it—I exceeded his expectations by overdelivering.

  • Providing more than I promised

  • Making sure I never missed a deadline

  • Finding different opportunities to improve

If you do these three things consistently, you can get the same opportunities as I did.

P.S. If you want a 30-day plan where you will learn and practice one lesson daily on video editing,

The 30 Days to $1,000 Editor Roadmap will help you master this skill, build a portfolio, and attract potential clients. It is currently in pre-sell.

Hope this helps,
