One Crucial Skill for Video Editor
Once you master this skill you will drown on clients
The creator space is booming right now.
There’s more and more demand for video editors.
Every creator you see on YouTube is looking for a video editor.
But there’s a problem — they can’t find one who truly understands YouTube.
Listen, on YouTube, you can’t just slap something together and call it an edit.
You need to understand retention.
If you want to edit for YouTubers, retention editing is crucial.
By implementing simple techniques, your clients can get 2x more watch time than average.
Here are 5 ways I improve my clients’ video retention through editing:
This is just a taste of what you will get in the 30 Days to $1000 Editor Roadmap.

1. Don’t Waste Time
It’s important to understand that your viewers are there for a reason — they want to get something out of your video.
And guess what will happen if someone wastes your time when you’re trying to find something?
You’ll leave.
That’s exactly what WILL happen when you waste your viewers’ time.
So it’s important to know which parts to keep and which parts to delete from your video.
2. Don’t Make It Boring
Human attention spans have become shorter than a goldfish’s.
So you need to ensure your viewers aren’t getting bored while watching your video.
It’s better that your viewers don’t watch your video at all than get bored while watching it.
Make sure your video has a roller coaster pacing.
Don’t make it a steady ride — you’ll bore them.
3. Add Feelings to It
We humans are emotional creatures — we all want to experience different emotions.
You have to structure your video in a way that delivers various emotions.
The reason why many meme reaction videos get so much attention is that they pack a lot of emotions into a single video.
Remember the last time you left a video because there were too many emotions?
Don’t waste your time — there isn’t any.
4. Make It Easy to Digest
Do you know what’s worse than making your video boring?
Making it complicated to watch.
Viewers are often braindead when watching — give them even a little difficulty, and they’ll leave.
Make sure your visuals complement the context of the video.
Break down and explain complicated topics with ease.
5. Build an Experience
People don’t remember what you give them, but they do remember how you made them feel.
If you want your viewers to keep coming back to your videos, you have to give them a worthwhile experience.
You have to connect your video to an experience so they have a reason to choose your video over the rest.
Look at how all the big YouTubers give you an experience instead of just content on a topic.
